Linda Wagner Named AP's New Director of Media Relations and Public Affairs

By: (AP) Linda Wagner, a former public relations official at Consumers Union, has been named to the new role of director of media relations and public affairs at The Associated Press, the news cooperative announced Friday.

Wagner had previously served as director of public relations for the Brooklyn Historical Society, and she has also freelanced as a reporter for National Public Radio, the BBC and the AP.

She joined Consumer Reports in 1990, where she worked as a radio writer and media liaison, eventually becoming senior director in the communications office of the magazine's publisher Consumers Union, an independent product testing and consumer advocacy organization.

Wagner will work on external communications policies and plans for the news cooperative, reporting to Ellen Hale, the AP's director of corporate communications.

AP is the world's oldest and largest newsgathering organization, providing news to more than 15,000 news outlets with a daily reach of 1 billion people.
