By: Dave Astor Veteran cartoonist Jerry Robinson has co-authored a musical that's opening this Saturday in D.C.
It's called "Astra: The Super Heroine Manga Musical."
Robinson told E&P Thursday at the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists (AAEC) convention that the show will run through July 14 at the Warehouse Theatre, 1021 Seventh St., NW. "Astra" is a production of Washington Women in Theatre.
During his career, Robinson has been a cartoonist, president of the AAEC and the National Cartoonists Society, an author of cartoon-related books, and founder of the Cartoonists & Writers Syndicate.
In comic book circles, he's known as the man who created the Joker character in the "Batman" franchise more than 60 years ago -- and inspired the name of Batman's sidekick Robin.
