By: Jack Pollock, who had covered and guided Keith County as its local newspaper publisher for years, has died at age 77.
The Draucker Funeral Home says Pollock died Friday at Ogallala Community Hospital.
Services are set for Wednesday.
Pollock learned journalism in the U.S. Navy, then earned a bachelor's in journalism at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 1958.
He joined the Keith County News in 1960 as news editor, then he and his wife, Bev, bought the Ogallala-based paper in 1966.
They sold the paper in 2000 to employees.
He was a member of the Nebraska Journalism Hall of Fame and had won the Nebraska Press Association's Master Editor-Publisher award.
