Longtime NY 'Daily News' Reporter and Columnist Bill Bell Dies

By: E&P Staff Bill Bell, a longtime New York Daily News reporter and columnist died May 12th at 75, according ot an article in the newspaper.

Bell's covered a wide range of subjects during his 25-year run at the paper, including Fidel Castro, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Merle Haggard, according to the paper

"He was equally at home in a debate over the politics of papal succession or a friendly argument about which city tavern has the best jukebox," said the article, which quoted the paper's owner, Mort Zuckerman as calling him "the embodiment of Daily News journalism."

"He possessed a turn of phrase that engaged every reader. He captivated the spirit of a real city newspaper. He will be truly missed," Zuckerman is quoted as saying."
