Longtime Rockford Newspapers Executive Retires

Jim Nelson has announced his retirement from Rockford (Ill.) Newspapers.  He began his career at the Rockford Register Republic and Rockford Morning Star in 1968.  He then moved to the Daily Gate City newspaper in Keokuk, Iowa where he served as advertising director.  He was then named advertising director of the Telegraph in Dixon, Ill. and later became the general manager of both the Telegraph and the Daily Gazette in Sterling, Ill.  In 2002, Nelson was named publisher of the Newton (Iowa) Daily News.  He returned to Rockford, where he retired as the national advertising manager.
