Longtime 'Star-Ledger' Columnist Named to Harness Racing Hall of Fame

By: Raymond Brienza, a longtime columnist for The Star-Ledger of Newark, has been elected to the Harness Racing Hall of Fame by the United States Harness Writers Association.

Brienza has written about harness racing for the Star-Ledger since the early 1970s and has covered the Meadowlands Racetrack since it opened in 1976.

Joining Brienza in the hall's Communicators Corner at the induction in Goshen, N.Y., next July will be author Marie Hill; Dean Hoffman, director of planning and senior editor of Hoof Beats, and John Manzi, publicity director at Monticello Raceway.

Driver-trainers Wally Hennessey and Jim Arthur and U.S. Trotting Association President Phil Langley were elected to the Living Hall of Fame.
