Lopez Replaces Perkins in NEA Package

Posted
By: E&P Staff Kathryn Jean Lopez, editor of National Review Online, will write a weekly column of conservative political and social commentary for Newspaper Enterprise Association starting next Wednesday.

She replaces Joseph Perkins, who recently left the NEA package after resigning from The San Diego Union-Tribune (E&P Online, March 3).

Lopez writes about bioethics, religion, feminism, education, congressional politics, and other topics. Her work has appeared on NRO's "The Corner" blog, in the National Review print magazine, and in newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times, and the New York Post.

Marianne Goldstein, editorial director of United Media (NEA's parent), said in a statement: "Kathryn is not afraid to speak her mind. Her opinions are always well-reasoned and clearly explained. She'll either make your blood boil or make you want to stand and cheer. She's able to take news items and moments in pop culture and figure out how they're defining her generation and her party. She is the new face of the G.O.P."
