Lora Cicalo Named U-T San Diego Managing Editor

U-T San Diego’s A1 editor, Lora Cicalo, has been promoted to managing editor by Jeff Light, who recently was named president and chief operating officer for the company.

Lora Cicalo, a longtime San Diego County journalist whose newspaper career predates the 1992 merger of the former San Diego Union and Tribune, will continue to oversee production of the daily newspaper, but will now be elevated to the newsroom’s No. 2 position.

Light, the editor-in-chief at U-T San Diego, said Cicalo will be his key partner in all newsroom decisions and the ultimate decision-maker whenever he is absent.
