Lori Browning has been named executive editor of the Illinois News Network.

Prior to joining INN/IRN, Browning worked for the Belleville (Ill.) News-Democrat for 27 years, a paper known for its hard-hitting, investigative journalism.

Browning’s work as a reporter, copy editor and assistant city editor at various papers helped her develop a keen sense of what’s news. As the BND’s editorial page editor for the past 25 years, she has won dozens of awards for her writing and the page itself, including from the National Headliner, the Illinois Press Association and the Taxpayers’ Federation of Illinois.

“I plan to use my experience to help make the Illinois News Network’s solid reporting and commentary offerings even better,” said Browning. “Expect more unique watchdog and in-depth journalism from us as we move forward.”

Lori Browning replaces longtime editor Scott Reeder, who is leaving INN to write a book and pursue other opportunities.

Illinois News Network is a nonprofit news service that offers news and opinion content to print and broadcast outlets throughout the state. The Illinois News Network serves more than 50 news partners on a regular basis. In January 2016, Illinois News Network acquired Illinois Radio Network, a radio news service that specializes in sports and statehouse news coverage.
