Lots of New Hires and Promotions at the New York Daily News

The New York Daily News announced that Colleen Noonan has been named vice president of marketing and creative services and Melanie Schnuriger has been named vice president of product development.

Both Noonan and Schnuriger report to Grant Whitmore, executive vice president of digital. As VP of marketing and creative services, Noonan will oversee the development of brand visual identity and strategy, as well as digital marketing strategy, working with product, editorial, and sales to deliver compelling commercial solutions.

Melanie Schnuriger, as VP of product development, will be responsible for digital product development across all platforms, working to integrate the needs of Daily News readers with exciting commercial products for advertisers and partners.

“Colleen and Melanie are the kind of industry leaders and agents of change who will keep the Daily News on the exceptional growth trajectory we’ve seen over the past few years,” said Daily News CEO Bill Holiber.

The business-side hires are complimented by a number of key editorial-side promotions, including three deputy managing directors, two editorial-side directors and one editor. The editorial personnel promotions include:

  • Kristen Lee is promoted to director of digital development (editorial). Lee will be responsible for developing the Daily News digital audience, increasing reader engagement and loyalty, and helping develop new platforms.
  • Brad Gerick is promoted to director of social media. Gerick will be responsible for further developing the Daily News’ social media profile and reach, creating new content platforms to enhance the rapidly growing social and interactive audience.
  • Zach Haberman is promoted to deputy managing editor, digital. Haberman will take over running the breaking news desk team, digital assignment editors and news reporters.
  • Cristina Everett is promoted to deputy managing editor, digital entertainment.  Everett built the outlet’s online entertainment section and Twitter following from the ground up.
  • Andy Clayton is promoted to deputy managing editor, digital sports. Clayton will manage day-to-day and long-term efforts of the News' online sports team.
  • Christine Roberts is promoted to editor, mobile and emerging products. Roberts will pioneer mobile development.
