Louisiana State University J-school Dean Resigns

By: The dean of Louisiana State University's journalism school announced his resignation on Sept. 4.

John Maxwell "Jack" Hamilton will take a leave of absence beginning December 2010 and officially resign at the end of June 2011.

June 2011 will mark 19 years at LSU for Hamilton.

According to a student newspaper, Hamilton said he is ready to take his career in a different direction after serving as dean for so long.

It also said Hamilton plans to become a faculty member at the university after his resignation.

Before his career at LSU, Hamilton was a journalist for over 20 years.
