By: E&P Staff The Courier-Journal in Louisville, Ky., has launched the Click-N-Buy Classifieds Enterprise Suite of Web-to-print, print-to-Web and Web-to-Web classified advertising technologies from AdPay, Englewood, Colo.
A core component of the implementation is direct front-end system integration between AdPay and Digital Technology International's ClassSpeed advertising suite.
"After struggling for years with the Web order-entry system for our classifieds, we decided to look for a third-party vendor that could take our online classifieds to the next level," IT Vice President Gary Shawd said in a statement. The paper chose AdPay for entering classified entry, search and display, enabling customers to upload multiple photos or a multimedia file to show off merchandise. Advertisers also now have a Make-an-Offer or Buy-It-Now option.
In ordering online at the Courier-Journal, the Web ad is created before a print ad, which becomes the upsell to the online classified, reversing the industry practice of recent years. Newspaper order-entry systems typically have maintained the online portion as the upsell. A completed ad is simultaneously sent to the AdPay online marketplace and into DTI's ClassSpeed front-end system for print publication.
Shawd said search and display makes it easy to find merchandise offered by private-party advertisers, and the DTI interface "allowed us to continue to track revenue without the need for additional customization."
