Love Is in the Air at Boston.com

Posted
By: E&P Staff It's mid-February, and, like so many others, the thoughts of the advertising execs at Boston.com have turned to love.

Specifically, Boston.com is giving a great, big Valentine to its Personals service, which, according to a new ad campaign, is the place to go on the Internet if you want to find the love of your life.

Take Rena Gyftopoulos, for example. The self-described "super-social person" took matters into her own love-struck hands when she saw David Shepherd at Boston.com Personals. Apparently, she e-mailed him at the approximate speed that an arrow flies from Cupid's bow. Now they're engaged.

Then there's the story of lonely John Grohol. He was new in town when he joined the service in May 2002. But then Nancy Grohol saw him online, e-mailed him, got engaged to him and then married him. All in about a year, proving that the Web can be a kind of Romantic Superhighway.

Finally, there's the case of ... well, you get the picture. As will scores of others when the ad appears in the Feb. 14 edition of The Boston Globe under the tagline, "Find your special someone today. Boston.com Personals."

"Online dating really works, and we've got the engagement photos to prove it," declared Lisa DeSisto, vice president and general manager for Boston.com, in a statement.
