By: E&P Staff In another sign of changing times, University of California-Berkeley officials have picked a journalism educator with a focus on online media as new dean of the graduate school of journalism.
Dianne Lynch, dean of the school of communications at Ithaca College in New York, will succeed Orville Schell, who is stepping down after 11 years in the post.
"I think [Berkeley's] the best journalism grad program in the world, if not the universe,'' Lynch told the student newspaper at Ithaca College.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, "Lynch was one of five finalists in a selection process that began last fall, Breslauer said. Among the others were Salon editor David Talbot and Cal associate journalism professor Neil Henry."
