By: Staff Reports Site Tells Advertisers About Non-local Users
MaineToday.com, the Web site of Blethen Maine Newspapers, has
launched a marketing campaign to promote itself as a way of
reaching out-of-state visitors. Running through October in print,
online, and on the radio, the campaign touts MaineToday.com as
"everyone's first stop on their way to Maine."
The Web site says traffic data and other information shows that
MaineToday is a primary source of information for visitors and
those who plan to relocate to the state. An online survey
conducted in April revealed that 35% of site visitors were from
out of state.
"During this time of tightening ad budgets, MaineToday.com's out-
of-state reach is a significant advantage over other local
media," said MaineToday.com president Joe Michaud. "We have
always heard a number of success stories from advertisers
pointing to the value of reaching this audience, so we decided to
dedicate our marketing effort to it."
The print ads will run in Blethen Maine Newspapers, including the
Portland Press Herald and the Kennebec Journal.
Radio spots will air on WMTW News/Talk Radio and WMGX. House
banner ads will rotate on MaineToday.com.
The ads feature quotes and photographs of MaineToday.com users,
with testimonials promoting vacationing in, moving to, and
retiring in the state.
