Man Stole $28,000 From St. Paul Paper

By: The Associated Press A former employee of the St. Paul Pioneer Press is charged with first-degree theft after admitting to police he stole $28,000 from the newspaper.

Terrance Leo Holman, 62, of Vadnais Heights, Minn. worked as the auto fleet manager for the Pioneer Press starting in May 2001. According to the criminal complaint, Holman was authorized to pay vendors for services.

The complaint says Holman admitted to police that he authorized payment for work not performed and then requested that the credit be applied to a separate account for Holman Maintenance Landscaping, which is owned by Holman's son.

First-degree theft carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
