By: E&P Staff Someone who lost his newspaper-related job confirmed the point made in last Friday's "Non Sequitur" comic, which alluded to giving away content for free on the Web.
That comic showed a newsstand with a sign saying: "Today in the Times: Print media isn't dead! Go to our Web site for the whole story."
In an e-mail to "Non Sequitur" cartoonist Wiley Miller praising the May 9 strip, a man said he was recently laid off from a newspaper association after nine years there. "I'm an avid newshound, but all online," he wrote. "Ironically, that may have brought about my own demise."
"Non Sequitur" runs in more than 700 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate.
A Monday story about "Non Sequitur" that includes a link to the May 9 comic can be seen
