By: E&P Staff Manhattan Media announced that it will launch a new publication focused on the inner workings of Albany called The Capitol. The Capitol will debut next month with the November 2007 issue.
Manhattan Media also owns City Hall magazine, the monthly publication that covers New York City?s political scene.
The Capitol will also be
available online and feature breaking news and features.
The Capitol will also be available online (going ?live? in November) at www.nycapitolnews.com and feature breaking news and features in the way www.cityhallnews.com currently does.
Since being introduced by Manhattan Media last year, City Hall has become the go-to news source for political insiders throughout City government. After just its first six issues in 2006, City Hall was recognized for Best Coverage of Local Government by the New York Press Association. And in only its first year of publication, City Hall featured a rare exclusive interview with Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver just before last year?s landmark elections, and the sole exclusive print interview with State Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno at the height of the Troopergate scandal--conducted in the almost privacy of his box at the Saratoga Racetrack.
City Hall has always covered issues of statewide politics and policy. The Capitol will expand that coverage as well as delving deep into the inner workings of Albany.
?City Hall?s distinctive approach has been defined by the substance and wit of its political coverage,? said Edward-Isaac Dovere, the editor of City Hall, who will now serve as editor of both publications. ?That hasn?t been found in Albany. With The Capitol, now it will be.?
?We feel that much in the way City Hall has been embraced as a ?must-read? by elected officials and those who surround them here in the City, The Capitol will serve our leaders and the like in Albany,? added Dovere.
