Manugraph DGM Puts UV Printing, Auxiliaries into Two Mexican Sites

By: E&P Staff Manugraph DGM, the Elizabethville, Pa., subsidiary of Manugraph India Ltd., has sold printing equipment to Mexico's El Debate for its newspapers in Los Mochis, Mazatlan, and Culiacan. The papers' five editions circulate a total of 145,000 copies daily.

The new facility in Culiacan will house newspaper and commercial operations and will be the second El Debate facility with UV printing capabilities.

The first MDGM sale, the Los Mochis plant, consists of one DGM 430 four-high tower, seven floor units and three stacked units. The tower addition features a fan-out correction system, spiral brush dampening, and DGM ultrasonic web-break detection system. Installation is to be completed in April.

The Culiacan plant, now under construction, will house two DGM 440UV four-high towers and DGM 1035 folder and quarter folder equipment. Installation is expected to start in June, dependent on completion of the building.

The press will use footprint-shaftless drive, pneumatics, fan-out correction, spiral brush dampening, second-level web-up platforming, DGM ultrasonic web-break detection system, Perretta remote inking system, AWS oil cooling system, Prisco chilled water system, QTI color-to-color, cut-off and register control, Jardis infeeds and splicers, a Prime UV curing system, and in-line trimming and stacking systems.

The folder features a 72-degree former with double parallel assembly, three-knife cross head perforator, perforator at nips and RTF, four tape quarterfolder, quarterfolder bucket phasing assembly, stitcher spacer section, MotterStitch stitcher, air-cooler for former air, Support Products four-head gluer, four-knife trimmer, and a stacker/bundler.
