By: E&P Staff More than 80 people submitted samples in an effort to become the next artist for the "Unfit" comic, according to a Wednesday posting on Scott Adams' "Dilbert" blog.
Adams had announced the
contest on his blog last month. Both "Dilbert" and "Unfit" are syndicated by United Media, and have nearly identical artistic styles. This has led to speculation that Adams is the "Mike Belkin" who creates "Unfit," a 10-month-old strip set in a gym.
In Wednesday's blog entry, at
Dilbert.com, Adams said of the 80-plus submissions: "I'm amazed at the level of talent. I was expecting most of the submissions to come from toddlers and the criminally insane. I was very wrong, at least about the toddler part. The criminally insane are well represented, and their artwork is spectacular."
Adams linked to the submissions, and asked visitors to his blog to pick their favorites and comment on them. He also said people could say that they'd rather keep the current "Unfit" artist.
