Many Top Columnists and Cartoonists Featured on New Cagle Web Site

By: Dave Astor Daryl Cagle has launched a Web site that aggregates columnists as well as cartoonists.

The Cagle Post is the latest venture for Cagle, the editorial cartoonist who runs the Cagle.MSNBC.com cartoon site and the Cagle Cartoons syndicate.

Cagle said the catalyst for the new site was "years of my frustration with editors who can't see that cartoons are as powerful, or more powerful, than words."

He added that the site mixes "the top" newspaper columnists and editorial cartoonists "in a continuous, chronological flow -- with the new cartoons and columns appearing as soon as they are released, and with cartoons getting equal play with the columns."

The latest columns appear atop the middle of the home page. In the left column, there's a list of columnists with their most recent column along with archives and RSS feeds for each writer. At the right are a mix of columns and cartoons by topic. There are also comments, free e-mail newsletters, and more.

Cagle.MSNBC.com remains in operation. "We may combine the two sites in the future, or The Cagle Post may go its separate way -- we're not quite sure," said Cagle. "But for now, The Cagle Post is a separate site."

The former National Cartoonists Society president also said that, "unlike other opinion sites like Townhall.com, our site has no political agenda. We have liberals and conservatives together on the same topics."

Columnists on the site include David Broder, Pat Buchanan, Mona Charen, Linda Chavez, Will Durst, Susan Estrich, Froma Harrop, Arianna Huffington, Jesse Jackson, Garrison Keillor, Bob Koehler, Charles Krauthammer, Michelle Malkin, Oliver North, Robert Novak, Clarence Page, Leonard Pitts Jr., Mary Sanchez, Robert Scheer, Connie Schultz, Cal Thomas, George Will, and many others.
