Marcus of 'WSJ' Wins Pulliam Writing Award

By: E&P Staff The Department of Journalism at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., has announced that Amy Dockser Marcus, staff reporter at The Wall Street Journal, has won the 2005 Eugene S. Pulliam National Journalism Writing Award for her story ?Sickness and Health.? Published Sept. 8, it chronicles the experiences of an Indiana couple coping with ?a life lived after cancer.?

In her 18-year journalism career, Marcus has reported on education, law, the environment, and on Middle East. She has also worked at Money magazine. Marcus is currently based in Boston.

On April 5, she will be recognized with a plaque and the $1,500 prize, presented on behalf of the Pulliam family, which sponsors the annual writing award, administered by the BSU Department of Journalism.
