By: E&P Staff Columnist Marie Cocco received thousands of e-mails -- including more than 600 in the first 24 hours -- since her May 13 column about the sexist way the media and others have often treated Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
In the column, Cocco first listed many examples of this sexism; for instance, she commented: "I won't miss Citizens United Not Timid (no acronym, please), an anti-Clinton group founded by Republican guru Roger Stone."
Her column concluded: "There are many reasons why Clinton is losing the nomination contest, some having to do with her strategic mistakes, others with the groundswell for 'change.' But for all Clinton's political blemishes, the darker stain that has been exposed is the hatred of women that is accepted as a part of our culture."

Cocco said a huge number of e-mailers thanked her for the column -- the latest of several she has written about the sexism faced by Clinton.
In the syndicate's blog, WPWG Managing Editor James Hill said Cocco's "e-mail inbox may never recover." And he reported that, as of last Friday, the column was still listed as number one among the most e-mailed articles from WashingtonPost.com.
