Marin County Residents Plan Protest Over Changes at Local Newspaper

By: A group of Marin County residents upset over changes at a local newspaper are planning to protest today.

The residents have complained that the Pulitzer Prize-winning Point Reyes Light has stopped covering community news since it was bought by current owner Robert Plotkin in 2005.

The former Monterey County prosecutor has said he wanted to make the weekly into a New Yorker magazine for the West Coast.

A competing newspaper is set to debut in July with a pledge to focus on local events. Demonstrators are planning to rally outside the Light's offices in Point Reyes Station this morning.
