By: Jay DeFoore Mark Glaser has written his farewell column for the Online Journalism Review (OJR.org), the Web site run by the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication.
Glaser, who first began writing for the site in September 2002, writes today that his column " has gone from blog-like babble to deeply reported opinion pieces."
Glaser says he will be spending the holidays working on a book, which he calls "more of a memoir than a treatise on new media." In the New Year, he will be launching "an exciting new project for PBS.org that I'm sure you'll hear more about."
Today's column looks at the success of National Public Radio's podcasting business.
In his
blog, OJR Editor Robert Niles gives thanks to Glaser and offers more tantalizing hints: "We're going to be running pieces from a variety of freelance writers in Mark's Tuesday slot, in addition to the features and commentaries we run on Thursdays. We're also working on a new online journalism website that we'll be launching after the New Year. Finally, we at USC Annenberg are excited about the possibility of someone many of you know joining the school (and, I hope, appearing regularly on OJR) in 2006. Stay tuned."
