By: E&P Staff Markzware, Santa Ana, Calif., has donated software to Rochester Institute of Technology's School of Print Media and the University's National Technical Institute for the Deaf.
Valued at more than $41,000, the software includes FlightCheck, Q2ID, ID2Q and MarkzTools, tools that allow students to convert documents from one format to another and that facilitate prepress preflighting, in which documents are reviewed for problems and corrupt files.
"It's support like this that enables us to provide our students with access to the latest and greatest software in the industry," School of Print Media Prepress Facilities Coordinator Erich Lehman said in a statement. The FlightCheck software will be utilized this fall in the school's Digital Foundations course and throughout its premedia labs, he added.
"Preflighting is important, as these students will be responsible for both the creation and quality of documents destined for print," said Markzware owner Patrick Marchese, citing his company's "longstanding relationship with RIT."
