Martin Cody Retiring as Publisher of the Ottumwa Courier

Publisher of the Ottumwa (Iowa) Courier Martin Cody is retiring after a 37-year media career. He has been publisher since 2011.

Cody started in newspapers in 1979 with the sales department at the Atlanta (Ga.) Journal Constitution.

Cody then became business manager for a group of Cox Newspapers located in Arizona. He spent more than a decade with Cox. He landed his first job as publisher at the Mohave Valley Daily Newspaper Group, which included papers in northern Arizona and Laughlin, Nev. He followed that with work at Brehm Communications Inc., where he eventually took on the publisher’s role at its largest property.

Cody left Cox to join the Newspaper Advertising Bureau (NAB) as the vice president of its Chicago office.
