Maryland First Lady: Newspapers Should Be Punished

Posted
By: (AP) Maryland's first lady Kendel Ehrlich is reportedly likening her husband's critics to misbehaving children who need to be punished.

She addressed a Republican gathering Sunday night in Ocean City and, according to the Worcester County Times, she called Democratic behavior during the recent legislative session "despicable" and "rude." She said if her five-year-old son acted like that, he'd be punished.

Likewise, Mrs. Ehrlich took aim at newspapers, saying "they lie."

"I would punish my son if I caught him in a lie, and they need to be punished," she said.

The first lady added that her husband's accomplishments haven't been reported.

She also predicted that next year's election would be ugly and urged Republicans to get busy working for the governor's re-election.
