By: E&P Staff The McClatchy Co. reported Wednesday that on a pro forma basis its advertising revenue in October decreased 2.1%, and its total revenues were down 2.2% for the month compared to October 2005.
Pro forma comparisons include results from the newspapers McClatchy acquired this summer from Knight Ridder.
Pro forma advertising revenues were up 0.6% year-to-date, McClatchy said, while total pro forma revenues in the period declined 0.2%.
McClatchy said ad revenue fell on big declines in national, down 21.1%; employment classified, down 12.3%; automotive classified, down 2.9%; "other" classified, down 9.2 -- and by a plunge of 59.4% in "other" advertising revenue.
Retail was up slightly at 0.5%, while direct marketing revenue increased 9.9%.
McClatchy said its preprint distribution increased 6.3% to 841.9 million.
Circulation revenue in October declined 3.0%, McClatchy said.
