By: E&P Staff Hai Nguyen has been appointed controller of McClatchy, effective Feb. 29. He succeeds Larry Edgar who is leaving the company to become a managing partner at the family-owned Edgar & Associates.
Nguyen, 37, was previously the company's internal audit director. He joined McClatchy in 1997 in the corporate finance department, joined The Sleep Train as its corporate controller in 1999 and then returned to McClatchy in 2001.
"Hai has worked hard over the past six and a half years in alliance with our newspapers to ensure a strong internal control environment," Pat Talamantes, CFO of McClatchy, said in a statement. "He is an accomplished accountant and has earned the respect of his colleagues because of his dedication, sense of fairness and willingness to work collaboratively."
