McClatchy Names Publishers in Wichita, Columbus, Rock Hill

By: E&P Staff McClatchy appointed three new publishers in Wichita, Kan., Columbus, Ga., and Rock Hill, S.C.

Pam Siddall, who currently serves as the president and publisher of the Ledger-Enquirer in Columbus, is moving to the same position at The Wichita Eagle. Siddall, 39, is replacing Lou Heldman who is retiring.

Valerie Canepa, 48, will fill Siddall's current spot in Columbus. She is the president and publisher of The Herald in Rock Hill. Debbie Abels, 55, will succeed Canepa. She is the director of advertising operations and strategy at the Charlotte (N.C.) Observer.

"These are three proven leaders with distinguished records in this industry and in their communities," Gary Pruitt, McClatchy's chairman and CEO, said in a statement. "It's especially gratifying to promote from within McClatchy and have such talented executives ready to set up and help guide these newspapers into the future."
