McClatchy's Star Leads In Digital Kansas City

For weeks in October, national media coverage of Kansas City centered on one story alone: the search for “baby Lisa.” Locally, the mysterious disappearance of 10-month old Lisa Irwin from her crib Oct. 4 received plenty of press also. But news outlets in Kansas City refused to make the sensational storyline their sole focus, displaying an issues-centered sensibility that characterizes the market.

“It’s the same story, day after day,” said Frank Morris, news director at KCUR, Kansas City’s National Public Radio affiliate. “I can barely stand that story anymore.”
