By: E&P Staff The McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum announced Wednesday that it is establishing an annual national "student free speech" contest for high school students.
"Seen and Heard: Student Free Speech 2008" offers winners a $500 prize, an expense-paid trip to the museum in Chicago, where winning entries will be displayed.
"The competition seeks entries that address issues concerning contemporary First Amendment topics in four media: editorial cartoons, photojournalism, film, and web design," the museum said in a statement. Entries should "focus on contemporary social, political, and economic issues."
The contest entry deadline is Feb. 15. Complete rules and requirements are posted on the museum's Web site at http://freedommuseum.us/seenandheard/.
