"Despite the global economic situation, we are continuing to find success in these emerging international markets," International Sales Vice President Ron Ehrhardt said in a statement.
Orders in Brazil include a 12-unit, one-folder Cityline Express press to Jornal a Gazeta in Cuiaba, a four-unit, one-folder Cityline Express press to Tribuna do Norte in Apucarana, and a four-unit, one-folder Cityline for Diario do Nordeste in Fortaleza.
The 35,000-cph Cityline Express has been installed at 16 sites this decade.
Jornal a Gazeta also will install an ultraviolet curing system on one four-high tower. MDGM has UV technology at more than 30 installations worldwide, according to Ehrhardt.
In Tanzania, Manugraph secured an order for a 20-unit, two-folder 45,000cph Hiline Express from Mwananchi Communications Ltd., a subsidiary of Nation Media Group. Mwananchi publishes three newspapers: Mwananchi (the top-selling Swahili paper); Mwanaspoti (the country's top seller) and The Citizen, an English-language title.
Earlier this year, Academy Press, Lagos, Nigeria bought a two-unit one-folder MDGM 430MAX press for the publication of textbooks. The 45,000-cph press is the third sold since its introduction at Drupa 2008.
