RICHMOND, VA. -  Media General’s Operations and Distribution Solutions Group (O&DS) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Nottoway Publishing Co, Inc., Blackstone, Va, to print its weekly newspaper, The Courier-Record, at Media General’s Lynchburg, Va, facility.

The Courier-Record has been in print since 1890, originally named as The Blackstone Courier until the acquisition of the Nottoway Record in Crewe, Va. The Courier-Record has been owned by the Coleburn family since 1946. They chose to move the newspaper’s printing to Lynchburg because it offered added production capability for printing, labeling, advertising insertion, deadlines, excellent quality and added color opportunities.

Upon receipt of the first edition printed in Lynchburg, Va, Editor William “Billy” Coleburn expressed his appreciation by stating, “I want to thank each one of you for helping us produce what quite frankly is our best-looking edition in our paper’s 112-year history...”

“We are honored to have been entrusted by the Coleburn family to provide production services for their print products,” said Bob Rogers, Central Regional vice president of Media General’s Operations and Distribution Solutions.

In early 2009, Media General formed the Operations & Distribution Solutions Group to manage its production and distribution operations across all markets in order to maximize utilization of its production and distribution assets in the Southeast.  Media General has 10 strategically located print facilities in the Southeast. In addition to printing its own newspapers, the company provides printing and delivery services for more than 100 other newspapers and specialty products.
