By: E&P Staff How did the mainstream media perform during the 2008 race for the White House? It was a mixed bag, of course, with print generally providing more measured and fairer coverage than network and cable TV, writes E&P Editor Greg Mitchell in his new book, "Why Obama Won" (Sinclair Books).
In a new article derived from the book at the Mother Jones site, Mitchell picks some of the media "lowlights" of 2008, from a focus on trivial issues (such as who wears flag pins) to the handling of debates (which went from bad to worst). It was a rocky road, from Jeremiah the Preacher to Joe the Plumber.
