MediaNews Partners with Topix

By: E&P Staff Topix has partnered with MediaNews Group to run the Denver-based company's online forums and comments.

Over the next few weeks, Topix is going to roll out those functions to 30 to 40 MediaNews Group sites that don't currently have a commenting system or are migrating to another platform.

"The goal of Topix is to power local voice and conversation in every single city and town across America," Chris Tolles, CEO of Topix, said in a statement. "By partnering with newspaper companies like MediaNews Group, we accelerate fulfillment of that mission through a federated, networked commenting system which provides synergies between every partner in the network. We plan to actively expand partnerships in 2008."

Based in Palo Alto, Calif., Topix is a privately held company with investments from Gannett, McClatchy, and Tribune.
