"We've been working with CityXpress for some time now, and have great confidence in CityXpress' ability to deliver winning programs," Eric Grilly, president of MediaNews Group Interactive, said in a statement.
In addition to the e-commerce functionality, the service will provide back-end systems for the classified-ad Web sites. Also, the service allows newspapers to use eMerchantXpress, a continuous auction-style marketplace, and Ask Our Expert, a tool that allows local business people to position themselves as experts.
This partnership is the first corporate agreement for eClassifiedXpress. CityXpress has recently signed with The Fresno (Calif.) Bee, The Telegraph of Nashua, N.H., and The Telegram and The Western Star of Newfoundland, Canada.
