MediaNews Taps Petrak as Senior Vice President for Marketing

By: E&P Staff MediaNews Group has announced that Mike Petrak has joined its corporate staff in Denver as senior vice president marketing.

Petrak was most recently publisher of The Idaho Statesman in Boise, a position he held since August 2005. Previously, he had been vice president of marketing for Knight Ridder since 2001.

Prior to that, he served in several roles at The Kansas City (Mo.) Star from 1994 through 2001, including vice president of advertising and marketing from 1994 to 1997, then as executive vice president and general manager until 2001.

Before his tenure at the Kansas City Star, Petrak worked in various marketing and advertising capacities at Consumer Power Marketing, the Wisconsin State Journal and The Capital Times in Madison, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram, and the Iowa City Press-Citizen.
