Megtec Acquires QuadTech Web Guidance System

By: E&P Staff Megtec Systems Inc., De Pere, Wis., announced yesterday that it agreed to purchase the QuadTech Web Guidance System and QuadTech silicone coater products from the QuadTech Inc. subsidiary of Quad/Graphics.

The acquisition allows Megtec to further expand its web-handling product line, while the sale aligns with QuadTech's announced initiatives to position itself to better serve its core businesses.

Megtec U.S. Printing Products Group Vice President Philip Strand called the QuadTech products "an excellent fit" with his company's web-handling products. "The transition of commercial and support activities will be seamless for our joint customers," he said in a statement.

In the same statement announcing the asset sale, QuadTech President Karl Fritchen said his company "decided to exit this business area and focus more on expanding our Press Control portfolio."
