Celebrating its centenary, New York-based Metro Creative Graphics has donated its catalog of advertising art dating from 1937 — the first year for which the entire catalog exists — to the Newseum's permanent collection in Washington, D.C.

Newseum Collections Curator Carrie Christoffersen said the addition helps to round out the museum's "very eclectic collection" of newspaper and news-related artifacts, memorabilia and technology. "The addition of Metro's advertising art is a great opportunity to add to our collection in an area that we are exploring and expanding," Christoffersen said in a statement.

Metro President and CEO Robert Zimmerman said "the timing couldn't have been better, since the Newseum's invitation coincided with our celebration of Metro's 100th year of our family-owned and -operated business."
