Metro New York Newspaper Sold to Schneps Media, Owner of amNewYork

Freebie daily newspaper Metro New York is being sold to Schneps Media, according to sources, making it the second freebie to be sold within two months.

The deal is also said to include Metro Philadelphia and Metro Boston and has stirred worries at the thinly staffed papers that layoffs will soon follow. Schneps took over the city’s other freebie daily, amNewYork, from Newsday in October.
