Michael Williams Named Editorial Page Editor for Cox in SW Ohio

By: E&P Staff Michael Williams, the award-winning opinion page editor of The Middletown (Ohio) Journal, has been named the editorial page editor for Cox Ohio?s Southwest Group of newspapers. The group includes the Journal and JournalNews of Hamilton, Ohio.

Thomas Gnau, currently a business reporter for the Journal, will become the Southwest Group?s deputy editorial page editor.

Williams first joined the Journal in 2003, and has since served as editor/associate publisher, managing editor, city editor, copy editor, and reporter. He received several accolades during his time at the paper, including three consecutive ?Best of Cox? awards for editorial writing, and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists award for best editorial page campaign in 2004.

Gnau has been with the Journal since 1998. Previously, he worked as a business and city government reporter at the Fairborn Daily Herald. Gnau received two prizes from the Associated Press Society of Ohio this year: ?Best Business Writer? and the third place prize for ?Best Business Reporting.? Last year, he won second place in the APSO category of ?Best Business Writer.?
