Eleven newspapers and television stations will not have to give investigators unpublished photos and a videotape of a campus riot at Michigan State University in East Lansing, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled last week.
The court said that investigators used the wrong kind of subpoena in its probe of the riot, which broke out after the university's team was eliminated from the Final Four men's basketball tournament on March 27.
Prosecutors, however, could eventually get the photos and video because the court sent the case back to District Court for another subpoena request.
