Mid Valley Publishing of Reedley, Calif., announced Friday it has acquired the weekly Dinuba (Calif.) Sentinel and the Sentinel-Advertiser shopper from Diane and Robert Raison.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Bakersfield, Calif.-based newspaper broker Gregg K. Knowles represented the sellers.
The 101-year-old Dinuba Sentinel has been owned by a member of Diane Raison’s family since 1914. The couple had been publishers since 1977.
“This is a difficult week for our family because the newspaper has been such a focus of our lives,” Publisher Robert Raison told his staff, according to the acquisition announcement, “but there comes a time when the torch must be passed. We believe we have found the best buyer possible for our beloved newspaper, one that operates successfully in other similar-sized communities in the Valley.” Mid Valley had been printing the Dinuba papers for many years.
Fred Hall, president and CEO of Mid Valley Publishing, said the paper “fits very well with our family of community newspapers in Tulare and Fresno Counties. We expect to continue the strong commitment to the community demonstrated for so many years by the Raisons."
Mid Valley also owns the Reedley Exponent, Sanger Herald, Parlier Post, Fowler Ensign, and Orange Cove & Mountain Times, all weekly papers.
