By: E&P Staff Derek Osenenko has been appointed executive editor of the Times Herald-Record in Middletown, N.Y.
Osenenko, 52, has served as editor of Gannett News Service in McLean, Va., since September 2006.
He joined Gannett in 1989 at the Poughkeepsie (N.Y.) Journal and was promoted to executive editor in 1994 before taking on other executive editor roles beginning in 1999. In addition, Osenenko has held executive editor positions at Florida Today in Melbourne, and the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, N.J.
Joe Vanderhoof, the Record's president and publisher, said in a statement that Osenenko's "familiarly with the Hudson Valley, his years of serving in highly visible executive editor roles with Gannett and his most previous role as editor of their news service, are all elements of a seasoned and very well respected editor by anyone's standards."
Osenenko succeeds Mike Levine, a longtime Record columnist and editor who died in January.
