By: E&P Staff Syndicated cartoonist Mike Lane has announced he is retiring.
Lane, a former staffer with The Baltimore Sun, was syndicating his cartoons via Cagle Cartoons.
"I'm saddened to write that one of the great editorial cartoonists has decided to retire," Cagle, a cartoonist for MSNBC.com and owner of Cagle Cartoons
wrote. "Mike Lane, who drew for the Baltimore Sun for decades and was one of the very first cartoonists to form our little syndicate is calling it quits."
Lane had been on hiatus since August due to an open heart surgery, but he's not retiring because of health issues. Lane wrote on Cagle's blog, "My quitting editorial cartooning has come because it's time, not because of my health. Which is quite good, notwithstanding."
