By: E&P Staff The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has laid off 17 employees, and another 12 jobs were cut at parent Journal Communications' community newspaper group.
At the flagship Journal Sentinel, staff was cut in the classified advertising and production departments, and an advertising group was eliminated. In July, the newspaper announced plans to reduce its workforce by 10% by the end of the year. The bulk of the jobs were lost during the summer.
A dozen positions were eliminated at the Journal Community Publishing Group, which publishes community papers, shoppers and niche publications in Wisconsin and Florida. The layoffs were first reported by the Business journal of Greater Milwaukee.
