'Milwaukee Journal Sentinel' to Print 'Kensoha News'

By: E&P Staff The Kenosha (Wis.) News reports that its printing and packaging will be taken over late next month by Milwaukee's Journal Sentinel Inc. at its West Milwaukee plant.

Terms of the five-year agreement were not disclosed. The jobs of 13 full-time and 40 part-time News employees will be affected.

News Publisher Ken Dowdell said the five-year production agreement will not affect his paper's content and have little effect on deliveries.

"Operating and capital costs, under scrutiny because of the recession and developments in the information industry, point to a change in how we produce our printed newspaper," Dowdell told the News. "The Journal Sentinel's flexibility in newspaper sectioning and color reproduction will provide new and enhanced services to readers and advertisers."

The Journal Sentinel's plant publishes daily editions of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and regional editions of Gannett's USA Today on large KBA Commander presses installed in the new plant seven years ago (E&P, December 18, 1999). The News has printed since 1973 on the first and largest Goss Cosmo presses (E&P, Oct. 2007).
