By: E&P Staff StarTribune.com, Web site of the Star Tribune of Minneapolis, surpassed 100 million page views in January, an all-time high in monthly traffic and a 9% increase year-over-year.
According to Omniture, StarTribune.com netted 103,063,177 page views in January. During Q4 2009, the site had averaged about 91 million page views per month. While major news and sports events drove incremental traffic, January 2010 saw increases across the site, said Jason Erdahl, Star Tribune executive director of digital media.
StarTribune.com also posted record monthly totals on two separate platforms: video (more than 700,000 views) and mobile (3.5 million views). The company?s Vita.mn entertainment site also set a monthly high, with a half-million page views.
?We continue to grow significantly on every key measure and consistently rank among the top newspaper websites in the county,? said Erdahl. Recent Nielsen surveys have ranked Star Tribune.com among the top U.S. newspaper sites for time spent on site. The average time per visitor on StarTribune.com in January increased to 33 minutes, up slightly over the two previous months.
